Kirill Lebedev (Kto)
May 24 – July 30 2022
Triangle Gallery is pleased to announce "Verification", a new personal exhibition of paintings by Kirill Lebedev (Kto) (b.1984, lives and works in Moscow). This is the artist's sixth exhibition in the gallery.

Opening reception May 24 at 19:00. Through July 30, 2022.

The paintings were created by the artist in January 2022, before the tragic agenda had changed the context of creative plans. This time the famous philosophical quotes by Kirill Lebedev (Kto) give way to bright (metaphorical sense) and slightly muted (regarding the colors) names. The resonant names. The proper names and common nouns. Names that make the viewer check out carefully, reflect and make a choice. Read between the lines and even the letters. And also count. Kirill Lebedev (Kto) represented correspondence betweentoday's popularity, citation on the Internet and the real significance of a person.

But are the millions of Google links important? Does the number of mentions of the artist correspond to his real significance and his contribution to the history of art? These questions concern the author. In each work the viewer can find something of their own. Someone will hear the melodies of the Soviet songs. Someone will find out about films of Italian neorealism. Someone will contemplate European painting, and someone – Russian art. Someone will meet the dawn in Moscow and someone – the sunset in New York. Dostoevsky and Tolstoy appear on canvas more than once. And many other names on these same canvases (as the artist himself says) "either did not fit, or undeservedly forgotten by me"are opposed to each other.

This exhibition is a unique opportunity to see the new street art style works on canvas by Kirill Lebedev (Kto). Easily recognizable "post-graffiti" no longer needs the signature of the author. Although at one of the canvases the name of Kirill Lebedev (Kto) is included in the range of famous artists. And he has the right for this. Without exaggeration Kirill Lebedev(Kto) is one of the most talented and discussed artists of contemporary street art. And not only "street".
